Pastor Candido Mafumo, Percina, his wife of twenty-three years, and their children live in the village of Hulene, located on the outskirts of Mozambique’s capital city Maputo. Both Candido and Percina are from the Ronga people group. In addition to their native Ronga tongue, Portuguese, the official language of Mozambique, is spoken in their home. Candido is the assistant pastor of his home church as well as an Operation Harvest Field Worker. Other gifts and interests of Pastor Mafumo include teaching and soccer.
Percina is a homemaker and mother of six children. She provides for her family by farming, but her harvesting is not limited to her garden. God has given her the gift of evangelism, as well as a talent for singing.
Lucia, the oldest, is married and has two children – Ferdinand who is five years old and Joana who is three. In addition to caring for her family, Lucia helps her mother with the family farm. Twenty-year-old Helena completed school, teaches at the church, and helps with household responsibilities. Candido and Percina’s third daughter, Elsa, is ten years old and in her fourth year of school. She, like her mother, has been blessed with a gift and love for singing.
Americo, the oldest son, is seventeen years of age and in his tenth year of school. Following in his father's footsteps, Americo loves teaching at church and playing soccer. While Horacio, fourteen and in fifth grade, loves soccer his interests also include dancing. Antonio, the youngest, is eight years of age, attends the third grade and loves soccer.
